Hey Kid!
Pretty good weekend. It seemed very long because I went out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Yep, I'm a pretty active fellow. Friday I went to the mall. There was WAY too many people there. Saw a few people I hadn't seen in a little while. My brother got lost (a boy of 19 and he still hasn't mastered the art of letting people know when he is going to disappear) and then while looking I saw a few people who I hadn't seen in years and frankly I had hoped I would never see them again. Oh well. I saw The Last Samurai again for free. And just went around town hanging out in different places. Saturday morning sucked because people kept waking me up until I finally woke up not all that rested at around 3 PM. Saturday night, though, was more fun than I thought it would be. Celebrated my uncle's birthday at his house. Ate menudo and lots of bread. And basically hung out with the fam (my sister's new word, sometimes I worry about her). Today consisted of Church and rest and it was about damn time.
Also
Prince of Persia is a badass game, bust-a-move is an addicting one, cryptonomicon is a good book but a thousand pages!, and giving presents rules almost as much as recieving them. You guys have a Happy New Year and you border kids: stay away from the windows.

Bah Humbug
I ope all of you in internet land are had a Merry Christmas. Mine was pretty average. There was the midnight mass and the dinner with the priest that has apparently become commonplace in the Regalado household. My siblings and I dealt with it as best we could. We came back home to bed but I couldn't sleep. I've never been able to sleep much on Christmas. Ever since I was a kid who believed in Santa Claus and the anxiety of waking up to find a christmas tree full of presents. The first time I remember not being able to sleep on Christmas was the year that I got my Super Nintendo. That was a very good year. These ddays I can't sleep because of the nostalgia I guess. It was one of those sentimental not being able to sleeps. It was nice, though. I( woke up today happy that I didn't have to go to christmas mass twice this year as in years past. My parents and my sister are actually travelling witht he priest to visit the homeland of Michoacan and my brother and I decided to stay behind this year. House to mysellf for the weekend. Party at my house ;) After my parents left my brother revived our old family tradition of going to the movies on Christmas day. We went to see PAYCHECK and it was pretty good. I love movies based on Phillip K. Dick stories. I wonder if William Gibson books will ever be so seamlessly translated to the big screen? I hope so. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

I'm Sorry :(....So Sorry:(
I know I haven't written in a while and you might think that since the last time I wrote was my 21st birthday that I have been going to the store daily to get alcohol and get drunk. That's not all the way true. Before I could do that there was finals. I study hard for finals since I slack off the rest of the semester. Everything has a price and it must all even out in the end. So I was face deep in books until I took my finals. Since then, it's not a drunken stupor but it's close. Much celebration with family and blah blah blah. Nothing much to report. But if Emma can find a way to post about nothing n a daily basis, I'm sure I can find something to say a couple of times a week or so. So, I am returned. I'll post over the break and next semester there will be more. I promise to work harder next semester but I make that promise every year so who knows. I also got a cool new job for next semester and I will see how that goes. I'm going to be an RA, I hope. Those kids will either love me or hate me, I haven't decided which yet. So yall come back now, you here?

People Get Old And So Do I
I'm not sure what those numbers at the end of my post say but my computer says that it is two and a half hours past the official start of my birthday. The computer has not steered me wrong yet. And I feel different. Most of the time when someone is asked on their birthday whether they feel different they usually answer in the negative. I think it's become the usual answer because one is not supposed to feel different on days like these anymore. We are not special and our birthdays are not special. They are just another day that happens. While I may agree with you that I probably am just another all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world, I feel different right now and that's just how I feel.
Now it may not be my birthday that is making me feel different. I have slept very little in the past few days. I have to write an "annotated bibliography" for my Composition class. I may be kind of nervous about that. I doubt it, because I have not been one to care much about schooling this semester, but its possible. I have also been drinking a lot of Vanilla Coke lately. I like the taste. I bought a twenty pack recently. And it is the only way I was able to stay awake today. It is also the only way I am going to be able to stay awake until I decide to finish that "annotated bibliography".
On the other hand, it may be about my birthday. I am feeling old. Not old like my dad might feel old (which he probably doesn't seeing as how he is still pretty good at doing stuff like playing tennis, and running in marathons, but that will probably never be me). I feel old like a guy who realizes that just a couple of centuries ago I would have already lived half my life might feel old. Actually I feel old like a guy who realizes that he still has a long time to live might feel old. I also feel old like a guy who realizes that for most of his life, almost as long as he can remember, he has been in school might feel old. I feel all those kinds of old at the same time.
I also feel mature. I feel mature like a guy who going out to get a beer isn't the same thing anymore. I am 21 now after all. I have said before that this is not that big a deal seeing as how not being 21 hasn't really hindered my ability to acquire alcohol much. I'm actually thinking now that it is kind of a change. I can say now that "yes, I will have a beer with dinner". When you were not 21, beer was something that I drank to have a good time (I am not an alcoholic). Now it can just be a regular old drink that I have with dinner. I can now leave the lock on my dorm room open when I have a beer in my room. Going out to have a beer is now something that I can do whenever I want. And now I can buy a bottle of liquor and whenever I want participate in the ancient tradition of "the night cap". Will this make the beer any less special? Will I come to appreciate liquor less? That is what I often theorized would happen. It is the whole basis behind the argument for lowering the drinking age. Fortunately I don't believe that it is true. I don't think it will happen. I think I will come to appreciate beer and alcohol more. I have always wanted to be a connoisseur of alcohol. Now it has become a lot easier to do that. I already have some of the basic knowledge of the connoisseur. For example, I know that American beer pales in comparison to many imported beers. I am sorry you patriots but it is true. I despise Budweiser. I'd rather drink Bud Light but only because if I'm going to drink crap it might as well go down quickly. I'm sorry but I hate it. I am not a Beer Snob. I am a Beer Advocate. Better exist but it is up to you to find it. I will now get back to the point. I will also search for good exotic liquor. It exists. Drink a shot of cheap random tequila, then drink a shot of Jose Cuervo white tequila, and then drink a shot of chilled Don Julio white tequila. Make sure you drink it in this order. A reversal might cause you to throw up the crap. That is just another lesson in the fact that there is good stuff out there. Finally I want to get into wine. There has to be some reason why good wine is so expensive and I am willing to learn. Like I said, I am not a snob, I am not an alcoholic. I am just a guy who likes options. I am more mature now and I want to appreciate the alcohol with age.
So I am old. It's cool. I feel old. I have seen things. Not too many things but I have seen enough. I don't regret anything that I have done. Well I regret a few things but it has all made me who I am today and I like who I am today. Today I turn 21.
I'm the guy who has to live inside of this thing 24 hours a day.

Cloudy Days + Long Drive + Rock Music = Me In A Pensive Mood
So I had this dream last night. I went to bed hungry and in the dream I am looking for food. And anytime I am about to eat something, something stops me and I can't eat. For example, I stop to eat at Burger King but before I can eat my burger my friend Jasmine walks in and I start talking to her and my burger just disappears. She invites me to go to Houston to eat a burger there but to get to Houston I have to win a singing contest. I lose the contest. My friend Henry shows up and tells me he has an extra ticket to Houston which he gives to me. Fast forward to me in a hotel (I assume it was Houston) about to eat a burger when I wake up still hungry. I never got to eat that stinking burger.
Other than the weird dreams (which I like) my weekend pretty much sucked. We went home because my brother had a wedding to attend but I was sick all weekend and didn't get to do anything at all. Oh Well. I guess in life, like in dreams, disappointments happen.
see what i did there?

11 Days Till My Birthday
Sure you might think its narcissistic of me to countdown to my birthday but when you think about it you are reading a website I am writing about myself. Anyway, you only turn 21 once. Well, twice, if you happen two have a fake ID and it really doesn't change much since I could buy alcohol in Mexico whenever I felt like it. But I can rent a car now. Anyway, this is the last of the birthdays when anything really changes. At 16 you gained the privilege to drive. At 17 you were able to get arrested without necessarily having to call your parents. At 18 you were able to vote, smoke, and die for your country. 19 and 20 are years that you have to think about what you are going to do when you turn 21. And finally you turn 21 and you are able to get as drunk as you want in the good ol' U. S. of A. Alcoholism, here I come.
I saw the last Matrix movie today. I liked it. It had some good action and I was never expecting ****************************************************************SPOILERS AHEAD******************************************************** I'm just kidding I will not spoil the ending for anyone. Besides the movie doesn't really have a surprise ending. Or does it??? HA HA HA HA HA *****************************************************************END SPOILERS*********************************************************** Anyway I read some pretty bad reviews about the movie and I thought they were totally undeserved. I also read this badly written bad review of it and thought that it was less deserved. I mean when one of the biggest movies of the year is released why would you send a high school kid with a dictionary to review it. Well, you can't expect much from USA Today anyway. If you liked the first two then you will like the third one. If you like anime then you probably like the first two and you will probably like the third one.

When you've known him as long as I have Mr. Daniels lets you call him Jackie
It was a good weekend at home. Went home, which is good because I haven't been there in a while. It was nice to look around Brownsville and see some of the changes. You drive up and see the expansions and say "Hey that wasn't there before." There's nothing new that really interests me too much though. If they can build a Barnes & Nobles there, though, I'll just camp out there for days at a time. I spent a little time at the mall where we saw the kids dressed in their Goth costumes and Punk costumes. It wasn't Halloween. Turns out my brother can't drink or drive for 6 months so now its going to be up to me. Fortunately I still got out of being designated driver this weekend. Got nice and fuxed up on a bottle of Jack once we made it back to Mexico and had a barbeque at a friend's house. Laughs were had by all. Well, except my brother who had to take care of me and make sure I puked in the right place. But I had fun and I'll return the favor someday.

Today, On A Very Special Episode...
One of the things about crazy shit happening around you is that you stop to examine your life. I used to hate doing that in high school because I always ended up disappointed. In high school I used to think my life was so very boring. I just wanted something to happen. Once I left high school, stuff started happening. It wasn't anything that would go on in the O.C. but it was stuff that happened. Now I am in my third year of college and I look back on these last couple of years and I realize that nothing has really changed. The stuff that happened in college is the same stuff that happened in high school. I always just hang out with friends, had a drink or five, had some laughs, and went home. But since high school ended, I have been less disappointed with that life. And now with some real crazy shit going down (look at my last post if you don't know what I'm talking about), I don't want anything more than that. I just want to hang out, have some drinks, have some laughs, and go home.
The big problem was that I grew up on television (in that television raised me not that I was on television) and television showed me that my life was supposed to be exciting with all sorts of mad cap adventures. Think about it. They make television shows so that people will watch them. One of the things they do to make people watch them is make the main character someone the audience can identify with. Zack Morris, for example, had something that everyone could identify with. Even though I was always more like a Screech, I identified with Zack Morris' laziness in school and ability to get by with very little work. And every episode Zack Morris got into some crazy adventure that was resolved in a couple of days. And in the end Zack Morris got the girl (in case you're wondering the girl is not what this post is about but its an example). Almost everyone can identify with Zack Morris in one way or another.
But not everyone can be the main character of a TV show. Not everyone is going to have adventures that they can resolve in a couple of days. And not everyone is going to get the girl. That's the way life is. And you know what? I am completely fine with that. To have an adventure you need complications. Complications lead to stress. Stress lead to seizures. Do you see how I am thinking now? I don't want stress. I want to lead my life with a my few friends, a few drinks, and a few laughs. Look at your life. If you have all of these, then you really can't be asking for too much more. I have this and if there's anything else I need, I'm sure the good Lord will provide.

Note
I'm just going to say this straight out because it is hard for even me to find any sarcastic humor in this. Yesterday, while my brother, some friends, and I were eating in the cafeteria, my brother had a seizure. I can't describe how much fear I felt at this moment but it is the most I have ever felt. I still can't think about the way he looked at the time without cringing. I froze. Fortunately, there was a woman there who knew what to do. She immediately took charge of the situation and helped him out. We called an ambulance and he was taken to the local hospital where he was given a variety of tests. There was nothing physically wrong with him and they found no physical reason for him to have a seizure at this time. The doctors attributed it to stress and lack of sleep. And basically as of now my brother is fine.
Now, when something like that happened, it is very hard to believe in coincidence. I used to flip flop in whether I believed that God existed. During my times of doubt I would attribute supposed miracles to coincidence. But right now it is very hard to believe that the woman who helped just happened to be sitting right there and that she just happened to know what to do. As I picture the way she was holding my brother and relaxing him, it is very hard to picture her as anything other than an angel. I know it sounds corny or dumb but I think I might have seen the hand of God at work. I guess I'm saying that I believe again. I don't know how the rediscovery of my beliefs are going to change me but it is like a security blanket to know that God exists and that he cares. I know it sounds dumb and I would have dismissed it before but it's just what I believe right now.

Still Alive....Barely
Its been a good week and a half since I last checked in with the couple of you who read this. This past weekend was an especially good weekend. Not crazy good but good nonetheless. I spent the weekend with the family. Mom, Grandma, and Sis came up to visit with my brother and me. We ended up spending most of the weekend in Corpus where we ate at Olive Garden last night. Today my mom took us shopping at the mall where my brother, my sister, and I actually hung out. I've never hung out at the mall with my sister like that before but it seems she's growing up to be a pretty cool person. Its especially funny when my brother or I piss her off and she says "You bastard!" cause we taught her that. And then when my mom got lost on the way to Corpus and we passed by the same stupid factory for the fifth time she is the one to say "Lets bomb it." I was so proud at that moment. Anyway after hanging out at the mall we ate at Hooters. Hooters is a weird place to go eat with your mom and grandmother. The food is not good enough to overcome the awkwardness. Not that it didn't stop my shifty eyes but what can I say? Its hard not to look when there are breasts and asses hanging everywhere. The food sucked but our waitress was cute. Anyway before they left they made sure that our fridge was stocked with all kinds of food, some of it homemade. I love my mommy.

From the people who brought you this story, comes this story. For those of you too lazy to click on the links, the first story says that masturbation prevents prostate cancer. The second story states that women can prevent breast cancer by giving oral sex to men. Now before you get thoughts of selflessly allowing your girlfriend to give you a BJ, it turns out that the story is a hoax. Sorry people but according to the guy who created the webpage there is no connection between fellatio and breast cancer. Not yet. I hope to be conducting research soon. Any volunteers? Didn't think so. Oh Well. The masturbation story is true so I can still continue helping to prevent prostate cancer in myself. Woo hoo!
I Believe That If You Ignore The Existence Of A Problem Then It Won't Exist But For The Rest Of You...
It's Breast Cancer Awareness month. So you should really start feeling up your breasts or have a willing volunteer feel them up for you. Not just girls, though. According to the pretty girl who gave me the pretty pink pin I wore today, 25% of men are affected by breast cancer so I guess you guys out there should feel up your breasts too or someone else's breasts and have them return the favor. Do what you want. Next month, though, I guess you can go back to being unaware of breast cancer. Unless you find something, though, then I guess you won't be able to be unaware...um, yeah.
On A Lighter Note
Its almost my birthday awareness month. Or as I like to call it "Christmas in November". I guess that joke isn't as funny as it would be if my birthday was in September but you get the idea. I'm going to try to stretch my birthday celebrations to a pretty long time since there are a good number of people who I have to celebrate with and at least 3 cities to celebrate it in. Let's not forget about Thanksgiving which always felt like a birthday party for me once I stopped having family birthday parties. I don't really know why my family celebrates thanksgiving seeing how my parents were Mexican citizens and residents when we started celebrating it but at some point after I was born an American citizen we started celebrating it and goddamit I have become addicted to turkey.

Based On Exit Polls I Am Officially Making This Projection....The Country Is Going To Hell!!!
I could never believe that people would actually vote for Arnold. When I thought of who would vote for Arnold I thought of myself. I thought of myself going into the poll and coming out laughing cause I actually voted for Arnold. I would be laughing about what a stupid thing I just did. Now I fear for this country, because that means there are more people like me than I thought. As dumb as people like me are, though, I have to believe that those who seriously voted for Arnold are even dumber. I mean for the first weeks of his campaign he refused to talk about the issues with anything other than a quote from one of his movies. Then he would only go on a televised debate that had the questions sent to him ahead of time. This tells me that he may not be smart but he has smart people working for him. Maybe this is enough for some of you out there who vote for governor and president but it is not cool with me. I am starting to see the genius of the rigged elections of Mexico.

And You Were There, And You, And You Were There Toto
I had a weird dream last night. It was one of those dreams that seems to be populated by everyone you have ever met. I was in a class with everyone and I did not have the homework. I then copied the homework from someone who I used to work with and then I was being a smartass to the teacher about why my homework looked exactly the same as hers. But like I said the weird part was that the class was populated by people I've met. It even had that kid from elementary school who moved after 5th grade.
Weird Things I Thought About This Past Weekend
My brother and I took this test. Turns out I am 24% gay. The average for men is 39% gay. I guess that might be something to be proud of. I don't know. My brother and I were thinking about who would we be like if we were gay. He says he would be like Jack from Will and Grace. I can see that about him. I joke with him that he has gone out with a girl simply because the only thing they had in common was that they both liked him. I would like to say that if I was gay I'd be one of the guys from Queer Eye For The Straight Guy (I can be trendy if I try). But probably if I was gay I'd be like my high school drama teacher: obviously gay but still very conservative. Anyway this train of thought has gone on far enough. Feel free to think about who you would be if you were gay. If you females out there want to try you should think about who you would be if you were a gay guy. There's not that many lesbian personalities out there which is something that should be looked at. There should be more lesbians on television.
War All Of The Time
This is just an awesome CD. Its a darker and more aggressive album and it does seem like Thursday's whole start stop thing they do is more structured. It seems less melodic though but some parts of songs are still catchy. I find myself singing "we are coming to the capitol" along with them during "Between Rapture and Rapture". They still do the political songs like they did in previous albums. They also have the songs where it might be political or might be personal like the title track "War All The Time". My favorite song on the album is "Division St.". Anyway this is a really good CD and you should check it out if you are into that type of thing.
School Of Rock
I saw this Jack Black movie this weekend. It was a very good movie. I thought it was very funny. It references a lot of old rock bands that you will instantly recognize if you have ever been into old rock bands.
Just So You Know
The Nobel prizes are being announced this week. I thought you might want to know. Mr. Feeney always said that we should know who wins.

Crazy Like A Fox
This is the Gollum-like conversation that I had with myself after re-reading my previous post a couple of days (and many hours of sleep) later. I cleaned up the language a little and fix the sentence structure a bit because this whole thing is to practice my writing but it is almost word for word because sometimes this is the way I think.
Self 1 (yep this was a two person conversation with myself): You are pathetic. You had a bad day. Actually, you had a bad 5 hours. Anyway, you had a bad 5 hours and you resort to crying and bitching about god. (Me imitating myself in a mocking tone) Oh God, you are a dick, you are an asshole you laugh at me blah blah blah. Seriously, you are pathetic.
Self 2: Why do I care how I cursed out God? It's not like I have been a very faithful servant or whatever and most of the time I don't even know whether he exists or not.
Self 1: First of all, you directed that at something. It might of have been God or it might have been fate or whatever, but you bitched and cursed at something. Second of all, its not just that you bitched at God. Its that your day wasn't even that bad. Sure you found out that you owe some money and that you were dropped from an important class because you owed that money. Then you lost your wallet. Thats three bad things that happened to you. There are people dying of AIDS and Cancer....
Self 2: Oh thats an easy way to win this argument. Bring up all the people who have it worse off than me. Thats not fair. How am I supposed to argue with that.
Self 1: Well the fact is there are people who had worse days than you.
Self 2: Fine but they can bitch too. I'm not taking that away from them.
Self 1: But for some reason you thought yourself special enough that you had to bitch at God. You know better than that. You know that if there is a God he doesn't give a fuck what you have to say. You were raised Catholic for God's sakes. Thats one of the main teaching points.
Self 2: Fine. Is that it?
Self 1: You are also pathetic. That whole statement is just you wallowing in your own self pity. Even worse you allowed other people to wallow in it too by posting it online. Be proud of yourself, man. I thought you had moved on from that whole wallowing thing after high school. You are supposed to be the kind of guy who takes the shit that gets thrown at him and moves on. Don't stand there tasting it and describing to yourself how shitty it is. At least not while sober. You should have shrugged it off and enjoyed the weekend. That turned out pretty good after all.
Self 2: Well I did shrug it off eventually. I did enjoy the weekend.
Self 1: But you still wrote this post. And people still saw it. And you and I are too proud to just take it down.
Self 2: Doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure at least one person has seen it already anyway. But am I not allowed to pity myself a little bit? That was the second time I lost my wallet in less than a year. Last time it was because I was stupid enough to take it in with me to the Ataris/Further concert. That was stupid.
Self 1: I'll give you that. We are stupid. So stupid that we eventually found the wallet this weekend at the most obvious place. But you didn't even think about that place before writing your stupid little rant.
Self 2: First of all, it was not the most obvious place. We have lost out wallet only to find it in the opposite butt-cheek pocket. Other than that you are right. That was pretty pathetic.
END
Just wanted to share that with you so that you could know that I think that last post was as pathetic as you probably do. The only thing I have to figure out now is: which one is the evil one?
Until Next Post, Same Pathetic-time, Same Pathetic-Website
I did finally get my Thursday album along with that copy of the new Reggie and the Full Effect album I ordered. I will review those next time I write. Probably.

It's Only Noon And I'm Having The Day From Hell
Warning: If you are in any way offended by people talking shit about God then you should cover your virgin eyes right now.
Are you there God? Its me...
Dear God, Vishnu, Jeebus, whoever is up there,
I hope you are sitting on a heavenly couch with John Lennon and Hitler watching the replay of my day, laughing at it like its an episode of Funniest Home Videos. Maybe you even have one of those recently dead comedians up there doing funny voices like Bob Sagget used to do. I hope you are having just one huge reverberating laugh that people think is thunder. I hope so because I don't think its funny. You can't give a guy one shitty situation after another on a day when he's had one hour of sleep without him snapping. It's just not cool. I understand that I am the cause of my own problems. I have never expected you or anyone else to fix them for me either. Hell, half the time i don't even know whether you exist. But if you do exist, the least you could do is delay some of the repercussions of my mistakes so that they don't happen on the day I feel like laying my legs in front of a moving steam roller to take my mind off the pain in my head. Thats the least you could do, you bastard.
What I don't understand is: why can't I be the guy who drops his wallet and some nice person behind him sees it and tells him that he dropped his wallet. Why can't I be that guy? Why am I the guy who drops his wallet somewhere, can't figure when it was the last time he had it with him, and he never sees it again? Why am I that guy? In fact, why have I been that guy over and over again in my life? Can you answer me that? No you can't. Because whoever you are, if you are at all, you are a powerfull all-knowing god who doesn't have to explain himself to little shits like me. Well laugh it up. I'll see you up there someday then maybe we can have a little chat and you can explain to me what it all meant.
"Sometimes I feel like God is teasing me just like he teased Moses in the desert."

OK OK I'll Update
"So much to say. Words don't come out right." A lot of strange things have been going on. Nothing special in the movie that is my life but a lot to the supporting actors. I hear a lot of good things about the new Thursday album. If barnes and noble would learn to ship things faster, maybe I would have somthing good to say about it by now. Oh well I'll mention it as soon as I get it.
Another Thing I Like About Rain
Yeah its still raining buckets around here. I love it. I forgot to mention in my previous list that I like how freaked out people get about rain. I'm sitting in class and suddenly you hear thunder and raindrops. Of course everyone turns their head at the same time to look out the window. And then when we get out of class they are all huddled in the hall right in front of the exit. Why can't they go outside? Its not evil spirits its just rain. Rain! Fine, try and kill it. Its like they are afraid that its going to hurt them (admittedly walking in the rain would make them suceptible to colds like I was). One of these days I am going to sit there and watch to see how long they are willing to wait. I'll be sure to report my findings here.
Geeky Things I'm Into
Cartoons. Watch Duck Dodgers, Family Guy, and Futurama and you will be into them too. Family Guy is so popular that now a movie is being made. Apparently there are plenty of geeks out there.

soo-do in-tu-lek-shu-al
It's been a long time since I have written a music review for this site. And there have been a good number of cds I wanted to tell you guys about. For example, you should pick up the following cds if your listening tastes are like mine: NOFX ~ The War On Errorism, The Mars Volta ~ De-loused In The Comatorium, and Cafe Tacuba ~ Cuatro Caminos. Thats right. That last one is in spanish. I know what you are thinking. More bullshit from the same guy who said that such and such movie was better than Fight Club. Some of you would even go as far to call me a pseudo-intellectual. If you can define it that is. You may be right. I sometimes consider myself a pseudo-intellectual. But is it my fault that I enjoy watching movies that are interesting, smart, or funny no matter what language they were originally in? Am I supposed to not like that old Radiohead album just because it uses wierd and frightening noises? Can I not enjoy movies and music as art as well as forms of entertainment? Apparently I can do all these things but I will be put in the same category as someone who uses big words to impress people. The fact that I use big words like pseudo-intellectual just adds fuel to the fire.
Anyway
The Cafe Tacuba album Cuatro Caminos is a really good record to listen to whether you understand the spanish language or not. The first time I heard it I was reading a book for class, so I was not paying attention to what Mr. Buendia was singing but I did notice how he uses his voice and the words he sings as just another instrument. I have been listening to these guys since my good old days of listening to Mexican pop way back in my early days of going to middle school in the border town of Brownsville. I am happy to say that these guys have evolved right along with my musical tastes. Their new record is one of those albums like Sublime that is hard to put into any one category other than great rock music. Listen to it and if you are a pseudo-intellectual you will like it. If you are not a pseudo-intellectual you won't say anything but you will have listened to a really great album.
PS (he he pee)
And yes there are movies that are better than Fight Club. Even one by the same director. Also every pseudo-intellectual knows that it was better as a book anyway.

Irony Is A Cruel Bitch
Those of you who read my post from yesterday will remember my positive comments on rain. Those of you who didn't, or have smoked too much pot to remember, can scroll down and read yesterday's post. Anyway yesterday I praised the bright side of a rainy day; well fate has decided to punish me for those comments. I don't know if this is related to the rain that fell and wet me yesterday as I walked to my freezing dorm room, but I now have symptoms of a cold/cough. I don't know whether its irony or just a coincidence but either way it really sucks. Wait! "Sucks" is a term that is too overused these days. It really bites! That's better and the exclamation point adds some style to it. Don't you agree?
Back To Bitching
School in Kingsville is fucked up because there are a lot of roads in the school. I have to cross three or four roads just to get to class in the morning. And none of these roads have any stop signs or any signs that would tell a driver that he is legally required to stop. So you just have to trust that, when you are walking, the pissed-off, hung-over, football player, who is late to class, will stop and let you cross no matter how slow you are walking. I'm sorry, you drivers out there, but I am lazy and usually tired in the mornings, so you will excuse me if I take a long time to let you pass.
There is no Emoticon For What I Am Feeling
I recently started posting on the message boards for Further Seems Forever. I like the band and the people there sometimes talk about interesting topics, but the greatest thing in the boards is their smileys. My favorite one is the shrug icon, which you can see in my post right here. I wish AIM would have that icon too because I would use it all the time. You should know that I started that topic just so I can link it to this post. You guys should feel special.
PS (he he, pee)
I am not religious but for some reason I am really compelled to wear this Jesus shirt.
PPS (he he, you know)
This is the fourth post in a series of daily posts. That is some kind of record for me.
Those of you who read my post from yesterday will remember my positive comments on rain. Those of you who didn't, or have smoked too much pot to remember, can scroll down and read yesterday's post. Warning To the Negative Nellies
I noticed that in the past few posts I have spoken negatively about my current situation here at Kingsville. That is my fault because it seems to me that rather than bottle up my anger or annoyance about something, I should share it with you fine people. I have decided though that in this post I will talk about one of the things that I like about Kingsville. So for those of you who come here for the bitching: courage!
It Rains A Lot In Kingsville
That's the good thing. I like rain. I like how the air is cooler before and after it rains. I like how the grass and leaves are greener after it rains. I like the smell of the moist air and plants. I like jumping over puddles and imagining the "boing!" sound Mario makes in the original Super Mario Bros. when I do. I like rain, and, for some reason, it rains a lot in Kingsville. I think it has to do something with its closeness to Corpus Christi or something. I don't really know but just the fact that it rains a lot makes me happy to be here.
Wang Is A Funny Word
Click here and find out what happens when you replace the word wand with wang in the first Harry Potter book. It is classic.

Misfits and Wallflowers Unite!
I hate eating in the school cafeteria on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Apart from the terrible food it seems like the last few times I have been there to eat lunch on a Tuesday or Thursday, I have been transported back to my early days of high school. That is a bad thing because I hated all the days of high school, early or otherwise. You see on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have three classes with only 45 minutes in between my second and third classes. It is that time that I have to use to eat because the cafeteria is closed when I get out of class. Every time I get there after class the cafeteria is packed. Every single person with a mouth has decided that they need to stuff it full of crappy Salisbury steak. It is at this time when I am holding my tray of crappy food and I am staring at the tables full of people who I don't know that I am once again a freshman in high school looking at a cafeteria full of people who seem to have known each other for years while I am just a new entering freshman with a small group of friends who have decided to not choose a table and end up eating outside the cafeteria. It's sad I know, but what can I say? I was a social misfit in high school.
PS (hehe pee)
I finally listened to the Dashboard Confessional album and FUCK THE NAY SAYERS! cause I liked it. I especially like the song "Ghost of a Good Thing". Which is weird because its one of the sad songs in a mostly happy album. Cheer Up Emo Kid!
PPS (hehe pee pee): Your Homework
I want you to watch Adult Swim. Adult Swim is this great two-hour block on cartoon network that has awesome shows for people a little older than the regular cartoon network demographic. It has Family Guy and Futurama, which are two of my favorite show. They are hilarious. What I want you to do is to keep an eye out for a certain commercial. I really like this commercial. It's a commercial for adult swim. The commercial tell you to time travel. I can't really explain it so watch it. It is the funniest commercial I have ever seen.

About The Weekend
This was an exciting yet uneventful weekend. It was supposed to be exciting I guess but it didn't turn out that way very much. Today was my brother's birthday. Happy Birthday Bro!!!! And we were supposed to go out and do the things that guys do when one of their own is celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or even a Thursday. It ended up that whenever we tried to do anything this weekend nothing really happened. You see Kingsville is a lazy town as well as small. When you are in Kingsville, you don't feel like doing a damn thing. I think its something in the air or maybe it's the pollution that is not in the air. Too much Oxygen is bad for you, you know. That's why they make you inhale a bunch of it during airplane emergencies (at least that's what Fight Club tells me). We did end up playing pool at some point and hang out at Denny's for a while. I hate Denny's. All the food looks good and appetizing on the menu and it will make most men hungry, but when they bring you the food it is way less than you expected. The desserts are worth their low price though. Anyways those were the highlights of this Labor Day weekend. Tune in next week for some real debauchery, though.
School So Far
I began classes this past week and I can't complain. Actually, I can, and I will complain right here to you. My English and Government and History classes are good. Unfortunately I am not majoring in English, History or Government. The classes that do matter to me, though, are not to my expectations. My programming teacher is brand new so he's going to be naively annoying. My Physics teacher is said to be a dick and I just keep listening for ways in which he will try to screw me over. That is distracting. I will try to change my Programming class but I will stay with the phallic Physics teacher. I enjoy a challenge. Wow did that last couple of sentences together sound gay?! Oh well.

Kingsville is small
Hello all I'm back. I know I promised to post more in the summer but I have been busy. Now I am back at school and have more time to write to you since I have to spend less time getting to places I have to be. Everything is walking distance around here, which is good since I am yet without a car. Soon, though, transportation will be mine. Not much has been going on inside my head or out of it anyway so its not like I was going to regale you with interesting posts anyway.
This going to a new school thing is weird. Especially since I am here a few days before classes start but I don't feel like going to any of the events for the new students. I went to all that stuff a couple of years ago and am too lazy to go through it again. I did go to talk to an advisor today. It’s only a couple of days till classes start and I only now registered for my classes. At least I got all the classes I needed to take, though I did want bowling, but I guess I'll take that class next semester.
I also had my first cafeteria meal today. It was quite an experience. I am still wondering how they got the turkey to taste like ham and how they got the top layer of the mashed potatoes to taste decent while making the bottom half craptacular. It makes me not want to eat there again but that would just be wasting the 14 meals a week that I already paid for.
The Dash
I finally broke down and bought the new Dashboard Confessional album. I was originally going to get it from a friend but a hurricane impeded me from seeing her before leaving. And then I heard it at a Hot Topic of all places and I thought, might as well get it. So I had to go out and buy it my own damn self. It’s a good deal, though, I mean, you do get a DVD with it. That’s cool. I still have not listened to it. I have had it for four whole days and I have yet to pop it in my DVD player and get a good listening session going on. The thing is that if I don't listen to it I won't be disappointed by it. I'm not saying that I presume that it won't be good just because Chris has suddenly become MTV-friendly. I have heard the new version of "Hands Down" repeatedly and have seen the video recently and it has grown on me from the initial surprise of hearing my favorite Dashboard song in a different way. The problem is that I have heard a lot of shit being talked about Chris recently. I have stood my ground in saying that I enjoyed Swiss Army Romance and that he has not necessarily "sold out". I just really really do not want to be wrong. It's not like I'm never going to listen to it, I just want to wait till my expectations aren't too high. Its like if I would have waited a couple of months before watching the series finale of Seinfeld. Then I would not have been as disappointed by the ending as I was.
Other Wierd Things That Happen
Today I saw this girl I knew in high school. That was awkward. And as I was finishing up this post I got my first complaint about the volume of the music in my room. Thats wierd because all I have is a couple of shitty computer speakers. I hope that doesn't keep happening all year.
Not Just An Empty Threat
True to his word, the very day after he arrived for his first semester at a college away from home, my brother did something crazy. He got a Mohawk. It was really cool. Not as cool as it will look once he lets it grow a little more but still cool. Tomorrow we will look for laws to break to celebrate his new street punk image. I am so proud of him.

If I’m vague I leave a little bit of mystery
This weekend was pretty uneventful though it might not seem that way after the next sentence. It involved the following: working, eating with friends, seeing an old friend, buying the new Thrice album, hanging out at Wal-Mart, eating cookie dough and Stove Top, flesh spoon, listening to the new Thrice album, working some more, hanging at the mall, watching Lara Croft, sweet revenge, a couple of monsters, a psycho seamstress, Um Jammer Lammy, church, The Talented Mr. Ripley 2: Electric Boogaloo, and more Um Jammer Lammy. It was not necessarily in that order but probably was. There was some stuff left out but they were left out to protect the living and the dead.
The Reviews
The new Thrice album is good. It’s not as good as the two that came before, but still very enjoyable. The box design and liner notes make me glad I bought it and didn’t download it. It’s such a simple way of adding value to the cd but it seems way better than some of the enhanced cds I have bought.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life can be summed up by the following quote from my eloquent brother: “She wins. There, I just saved you two boobless hours.” Though I have to disagree in that Angelina Jolie has boobs and I think I might have seen a peek at an areola.
What can I say about Monsters Inc. that hasn’t been said about all Pixar movies? I had already seen it before and I thought that it was extremely funny. Now that I am seeing again I can’t help but compare it to Finding Nemo (which to my amazement and delight was referenced in this movie) and must say that Finding Nemo is much funnier. That is a testament to how funny Finding Nemo is, though, so if you have yet to see either of those movies then you should really rush to your local video store and/or movie theatre.
May is a weird movie. It is not scary. It is not really thrilling. It’s just weird and sort of funny but not haha funny if you know what I mean. I still enjoyed it. I guess I like weird too.
Um Jammer Lammy is an incredibly addictive Playstation game that I had not played before for some reason that I fail to remember now. If you are into videogames and music or just really like pressing buttons then you need to check this game out. It makes me want to play more rhythm games, which is saying something since I have no rhythm.
Ripley’s Game is a good movie because of John Malkovich. It is impossible to not like John Malkovich. He is just so fucking cool. Malkovich makes me want to be Tom Ripley or maybe just be Malkovich. Now if only someone would make a movie about being John Malkovich. Did you see what I did there?
The moral of the story
This goes out to you-don’t-know-who. HE WOULD RATHER DO NOTHING THAN HANG OUT WITH YOU.

Welcome to the relaunch just another blog. There are an endless stream of these. Most are by people much smarter and with more interesting things to talk about than I do. Mine is also going to be very simple for though I consider myself computer literate I have never been able to master the art of html.
Why am I doing this?
That's a good question. The short answer is a low short moan and a shrug, which roughly translates to "I don't know." I don't have any particular views that I feel are important enough to you or anybody HAS to read them. I might be doing this to be trendy seeing as this ground is well-trodden. I had a couple of inspirations. You should check them out. Both of them more interesting and funnier than I could ever be.
Why should you read this?
See: short answer above. If you are someone I know you might be interested in reading how I feel about certain things that rarely get discussed by me in public mostly because they never come up. In this page I could talk about topics ranging from what I think about the president to what I think about Joey from Friends being the one to receive his own sitcom. I don't think of myself as Demosthenes or Locke so I don't hold any illusions that my writings will help me take over the world. I just need somewhere to vent. This might be a place you might want to visit if you are bored. I will sometimes provide links that I find amusing. So for now, COURAGE!
